<span style="font-size: x-large;">What caused it, What I tried, and What worked</span></h2>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
My battle:</h3>
<div>
My face broke out bad - I mean so bad that I had some pretty disgusting white heads, I even had a giant spot with 3 whiteheads in 1 that had to be popped individually. Ew, something out of nightmares.</div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5ZXJOSBPTdU/VfetQjEcy8I/AAAAAAAAAVk/TIo08na_vOY/s1600/20150718_232117.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5ZXJOSBPTdU/VfetQjEcy8I/AAAAAAAAAVk/TIo08na_vOY/s320/20150718_232117.jpg" width="240" /></a> </div>
<div>
<i>Can you see all the bumps that are beneath my skin?</i></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I was completely confused, but I just shrugged it off. I was using a new serum by Peter Thomas Roth and I labelled that the culprit.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
While my face began breaking out wherever there was an available spot, my stress increased along with another new issue.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I landed myself in the hospital due to horrible period cramps that left me screaming and crying in agony and confusion. What was wrong with me internally?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
'Your uterus is out of place,' the E.R doctor told me with a completely confused face. Is that even a thing?</div>
<div>
My nurse neighbor reassured me that the doctor most likely didn't know what he was looking at, because that isn't a thing.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Fast forward to 3-4 months, my general doctor ordered me off to get some tests done after hearing about my hospital episode, only to reveal I had a cyst in my ovaries half the size of my Uterus.</div>
<div>
She further explained that it was harmless, the pain was from the cyst rupturing and what bothered me wasn't the actual rupture. The liquid from the cyst ends up being trapped behind my uterus where it's left to dissolve. And that liquid was applying pressure to my Uterus (which most likely led the E.R doctor to believe it was out of place, it was later confirmed that the only thing he found from my hospital exams was a bunch of liquid from the cyst.)</div>
<div>
It's completely normally to get cysts during your period, but mine were far too big. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My body's hormones were so out of whack that it was creating the problem on it's own. If I didn't get this fixed, the constant ruptures would actually cause trauma to my ovaries and eventually make me infertile. Birth control would fix it.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Around the time this happened, an article was released about a young girl about my age who died from an underlying heart condition by using birth control. This freaked me out so I tried to go the natural route... I didn't want anything to do with birth control so I went through with Western Medicine and saw a Chinese Doctor who sent me off with herbal pills.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I also ate hormone free, avoided sugar like the plague and anything that had cholesterol and different teas and exercise.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I know you're expecting an article praising Western Medicine and home remedies, but that's not what happened.</div>
<div>
I had to take 7 (herbal) pills twice a day... so 14 pills. </div>
<div>
5 days before my period, I had to take 6 herbal pills twice a day and stop the first day of. I felt like I had a million things wrong by taking so many damn pills.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Did this work? I probably felt about 5% better during my periods, but it made no difference. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Meanwhile, my dog got sick and had inflamed kidneys, the stress made my face freak out even more.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The esthetician I went to saw me twice in this state. The first time, she extracted as much as she could.</div>
<div>
The second time, she realized everything was back and worse.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Everything she extracted, came right back up the next day in it's full glory. Red face, throbbing with pain... I actually took a day off. My face was hurting and I looked like I had an allergic reaction. I spent the whole day icing my face and drinking tea.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ifPZ9iYfFe8/VfetrA83caI/AAAAAAAAAVw/_cpHNGhrLiw/s1600/20150630_113437.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ifPZ9iYfFe8/VfetrA83caI/AAAAAAAAAVw/_cpHNGhrLiw/s320/20150630_113437.jpg" width="240" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rwoX7ZMAGCk/VfetrCbE9NI/AAAAAAAAAVs/2IWYLQA19JQ/s1600/20150630_113633.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rwoX7ZMAGCk/VfetrCbE9NI/AAAAAAAAAVs/2IWYLQA19JQ/s320/20150630_113633.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
<i>Picture of everything basically popped day of.</i> <i>Please excuse messed up hair, and grumpy face.</i></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The next day at work, everyone asked what I was allergic to or what happened to my face. </div>
<div>
'They popped EVERYTHING!', I exclaimed, reminding myself there were bigger problems to worry about than an army of angry acne like the violent psychopath we were trying to track down.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It was time for a dermatologist to intervene, but I didn't want to go to any random one.</div>
<div>
I sat down and looked up 'Dermatologist'... millions. At first I was overwhelmed, alot of them had great reviews.. but upon being snoopy on their webpages I was able to figure out something most would overlook. Majority of these 'award winning, famous' dermatologist seemed to specialized in anti aging procedures, with hundreds of beautiful before and after's and amazing reviews but 1-2 photos of acne patients (very very mild cases to add onto that.)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I needed to narrow my search.</div>
<div>
'Dermatologist who specialize in acne'.</div>
<div>
Only 2 appeared.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Funny how adding a bit of detail suddenly made my results so narrow.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
How lucky was I to find a dermatologist that didn't have 4 month waiting list, and as blunt as can be.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The day of my appointment I was early (like an hour early) but I was excited yet nervous.</div>
<div>
I sat down and explained everything..</div>
<div>
I avoid fragrance, harsh alcohol</div>
<div>
I tried facials, diets, BP, salicylic acid, etc.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
He took a look at my face, and asked if he could take a before photo which he may show to his students at the University of Miami. (That's when you know shit's bad.)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I expected him to prescribe a cream of some sort, instead he shooked his head and told me he didn't believe in slathering on ten different creams for acne. If it keeps coming back, it needs to be tackled from the inside. I was also told to avoid facials for a while, since my acne was persistent the extractions would only end up causing trauma to my skin.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I was told I might have to go on Accutane, but we would work our way up.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
But .. the catch.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
He didn't let me take any single acne medication until I got on Birth Control...</div>
<div>
I gulped.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
He gave me cortisone injections, and gave me an antibiotic that would stop acne from being created and help with the infection. However, it wasn't a long term solution. The pill made me prone to yeast infections so I had to eat yogurt every time I took it and the minute I stopped the acne would return.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I thought about Birth Control at home and ended up coming to my senses. No one in my family ever suffered from acne because they all took the pill.</div>
<div>
My mom had taken the pill for a long time and had no side effects. I also get yearly health check ups so if something was wrong with my heart I would have known... I already had 2 tests done in the same year.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I went to my Gyno who ordered more tests just for my own mental assurance, and sent me off with a generic version of Ortho Tri Cyclen (Tri Previfem). Ortho Tri Cyclen was $50/month. Tri Previfem was free. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
After a month's use, no new severe acne spots appeared. And my period cramps didn't really exist all of a sudden. People at work were asking what I was doing to my skin, and I was completely confused because a google search on Birth Control and acne had an entire forum of users preaching that it was nearly impossible to see any results on just your first month.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
At my next consultation, I was sent off for a facial extraction to get rid of the left overs.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
After that, all I've been getting a chemical peels to help remove the brown spots and facials.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm on month 3, and I have had just a spot or 2, but just milia from sweating.. nothing like before. </div>
<div>
I haven't had any abnormally large cysts either or horrible cramps. For the first time in years, I could actually exercise while ON my period and not end up screaming on the floor. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Birth Control ended up being a god send for me, more than I ever thought it could. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My dermatologist was so impressed that we did a video talking about my acne to show to his students and possibly put on his web page.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
All I'm getting now are pretty much just chemical peels, 30% Salicylic acid. My journey is now clearing up my brown spots. They do annoy me because from a distance they can appear like indents but up close you can tell they are just marks.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4pV_Fwwv8Ks/VfeuMaMd4II/AAAAAAAAAV8/nsc_fy_vzHs/s1600/20150914_193241.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4pV_Fwwv8Ks/VfeuMaMd4II/AAAAAAAAAV8/nsc_fy_vzHs/s320/20150914_193241.jpg" width="240" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fitJwl3KVj4/VfeuMiOBYeI/AAAAAAAAAWA/CGydOnhEi5k/s1600/20150914_193348.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fitJwl3KVj4/VfeuMiOBYeI/AAAAAAAAAWA/CGydOnhEi5k/s320/20150914_193348.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Note: I am wearing a sunscreen here. I also just had another peel performed earlier.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So what do my ovaries have to do with this?<br />
Well my body was telling me I had a hormonal problem, which meant I had hormonal acne.<br />
My cysts were hormonal, and that should have been a more than enough sign to point out that my acne was too. I should have listened to my body more.<br />
<br />
And Western medicine? Doc says it can work, but for more mild cases. It would have taken ages for it to have any effect on my hormones.<br />
<br />
I'm finally happy that I can drink milk, with hormones and cheese and sugar and anything else I've missed out on. I just never thought Birth Control could actually save my face, and my future babies. </div>

<a href="http://www.wedderspoon.com/shop/images/D/_0001s_0006_US_KFactor-16_500g_web-01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.wedderspoon.com/shop/images/D/_0001s_0006_US_KFactor-16_500g_web-01.jpg" height="320" width="206" /></a></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Raw honey is usually quite beneficial to the skin and reviews online usually claim all kinds of crazy things. I decided to splurge and jump for the honey after my skin esthetician gave me the thumbs up.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">While you can gain benefits from any raw, unfiltered honey I jumped for Manuka Honey. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It's imported from either New Zealand and Australia from the Manuka Tree.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Manuka Honey is used as an alternative medicine and is applied commonly as a wound dressing. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Honey is known to have antibacterial and antiseptic properties which makes it great for skin types like mine.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I went out to my local farmers market and bought myself a jar of Manuka. I got the larger size for $33.00.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Cleanser</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">My skin dries out pretty easily just through the use of a cleanser, particularly my cheeks. Instead of using just my cleanser alone, I mixed 1/1 of my cleanser and manuka honey together.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Result</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The amount of dryness in my cheeks decreased significantly, skin had a healthy glow to it after cleansing.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Mask</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I applied a thick layer of Manuka Honey as instructed per the esthetician and left it on for 15-20 minutes. My face felt sticky and things did get messy.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Result</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">My skin tone appeared much more even oddly. Consistent use of manuka honey as a mask cleared up my brown spots and acne marks.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Exfoliant</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I mixed a fine salt together with Manuka Honey.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">After leaving it on as a mask, I added a teaspoon of salt in my hands.. rubbed my hands together softly and exfoliated my face.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Result</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Smooth, glowy skin and even out skin tone texture. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Overall</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Use of Manuka honey was a blessing for my skin.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The amount of sensitivity in my skin decreased, and the amount of redness, inflammation and size of any acne seriously shrunk down, especially when left on as a mask and as an overnight spot treatment.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">While Manuka Honey is an expensive buy, I have already gone through 4-5 jars of this stuff. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have even eliminated my cleanser ( on days I am make up free ) and just use manuka honey and salt. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Manuka Honey has wonderful properties (far too many) and it seems to be a staple in my skin care.</span></div>

<div>
</div>
<div>
I have tried several oils, including Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Argan Oil, Maracuja ( Passion fruit ) Oil, Jojoba Oil, Rosehip Oil, and Avocado. </div>
<div>
However, nothing takes the cake like <span style="font-family: HelveticaNeue-Light;"><span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.294118);">Squalane</span></span> Oil does. </div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_Mef0vfhJf4/U9hMcsoAzUI/AAAAAAAAAP8/d46J2hTCW-I/s1600/il_squalane_web.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_Mef0vfhJf4/U9hMcsoAzUI/AAAAAAAAAP8/d46J2hTCW-I/s1600/il_squalane_web.jpg" height="320" width="218"></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br></div>
Squalane Oil is typically derived from either shark liver, olives, or sebum. Our body produces Squalane Oil naturally, overtime it begins to decline with age.</div><div><br></div>
<div>
Squalane oil is loaded with antioxidants, skin repairing benefits which include cell turn over and anti-aging benefits. Squalane oil absorbs quickly into the skin so it's almost impossible to feel like an oil slick ( as opposed to coconut oil and several others ) leaving you with a nice luminous glow. </div>
<div>
<br></div>
<div>
I use it with my moisturizer and it works quite well. I did dry out my cheeks a bit as my moisturizer ( CeraVe cream ) is too heavy for my acne prone skin type and left me with occasional blemishes. I treated them with Diluted Tea Tree oil which eventually dried my skin and left it a bit flakey. The dryness only showed up with my foundation. </div>
<div><br></div><div>
I was impressed that it only took 2 days for my skin to feel soft again. While CeraVe works nice for my dry skin, I use the cream version as opposed to the Lotion. </div>
<div>
I did this because my moisture barrier was absolutely wrecked. </div>
<div>
Even though it is non-comedogenic, heavy moisturizers on acne prone skin can still cause comedogenic break outs. </div>
<div>
<br></div>
<div>
Pairing this with my Paulas Choice Vitamin C Booster serum yields such beautiful results. My skin tone is left even, looking better everyday. This is a new staple in my skin care routine as a moisturizer with loaded benefits.<br>
<br></div>
<div>
You can purchase the Squalane Oil I used here: http://www.beautylish.com/s/indie-lee-squalane-facial-oil</div>

A lot of marketed hair treatments are really just composed of slip agents and silicone. So while your hair feels nice afterwards, it has not improved in health.</span><br />
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;">I gave it a go to try the Aussie Three Minute Miracle since there was a lot of hype. My hair did feel softer, but only because it was just coated in silicone and slip agents. There was and will never be improvement in its health.</span><br />
<div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;">It's summer here in Miami so our garden is blooming, it's also raining every day sometimes two times a day for the entire two months. Which means the occasional thunderstorm that will knock fruit down and sometimes branches that are filled with fruit. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;">One of our avocado trees lost a branch and now we have an abundance of avocados. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;">So with all these avocados available I went ahead and whipped up a protein treatment to strengthen my hair. </span><br />
<br />
<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<h4>
What you need </h4>
</div>
<div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="color: #444444;">A very ripe Avocado ( Protein, Vitamins, Moisture ).<br />Mayo or Egg Yolk ( Protein )<br />Honey or Glycerin ( Humectant )<br />Oil ( Optional, I used coconut oil ). </span></blockquote>
</div>
<div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4lwAERL5eeY/U9WHxavv8hI/AAAAAAAAAPk/03TDicO8qZg/s1600/DSCN1572.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4lwAERL5eeY/U9WHxavv8hI/AAAAAAAAAPk/03TDicO8qZg/s1600/DSCN1572.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<h4>
Instructions </h4>
</div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;">I cut my avocado in half and added it inside my blender. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;">I blended the avocado by itself, so that it would be creamy. You can mash it up as well but I prefer to blend it so that I don't have chunks of avocado in my hair. </span></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XqIbLbfpv3M/U9WHmGFNweI/AAAAAAAAAPc/omkAXNXdSFU/s1600/DSCN1563.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="color: #444444;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XqIbLbfpv3M/U9WHmGFNweI/AAAAAAAAAPc/omkAXNXdSFU/s1600/DSCN1563.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;">I then added in Mayo, and Honey. I put my spoon of honey over heat so it's more of a liquid than gooey. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;">Alternatively you can use Glycerine ( which i honestly forgot about ) since it has that perfect consistency. Glycerine is relative cheap at about $3.00 at Walmart. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;">After blending all the ingredients together I went ahead and dampened my hair. Hair is more porous when its wet which is why often times conditioning treatments are done when your hair is being washed. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;">I parted my hair in two sections and working from my ends upwards I covered my hair in the treatment. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"> I clipped my hair up and used a plastic bag over my head. I like to use bags more than shower caps since I actually need my shower caps. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;">I went ahead and put a head band on the edges of the bag.. Then I pulled the head band tight so that it was firm enough so that the treatment wouldn't drop down on me and tied it. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;">I let my treatment sit for about three hours.. Just running any house errands. Afterwards I washed it out and noticed that there was a significant improvement on my hair and my ends, along with shine. There was alot less fall out on my hair when I washed it. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;">I love this treatment and have always had it done for years. If you are going to treat your hair with heat then this is a great treatment to do to prep your hair. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;">Feel free to throw in some other fruits like Banana. I threw in pieces of mango so that my hair wouldn't smell so much like avocado. </span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
</div>

Between AHA & BHA's, I went ahead and chose a BHA since I am prone to blemishes.<br />
<br />
Although I have dry skin; between the lotion, gel, and liquid I went with the liquid. I already have other emollients in my skincare routine, and too much can end up being comedogenic.<br />

<h3>
<br />My experience with this product:</h3>
<div>
<br /></div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
Addressing each claim one by one..<br />I personally did not see any difference in pore size. I do not have any issues with having any enlarged pores that I am aware of.<br />Although, I do not have any breakouts, I get the occasional blemish popping up. I have not experienced any blemishes appearing other than the one blemish that pops up due to the 'Time of month'. Since BHA's are great for cell turn over, the lifespan of my special visitors are very short lived.<br />I have not experienced any dryness using this product. As a matter of fact, my skin is now very soft and has the feel of a perfect base for make up. This product eliminated any dry patches that a scrub did not eliminate, and made dryness a thing of the past.<br />I feel my skin tone has also improved, not a significant amount since that was not an issue.<br />The redness of any blemish was also greatly reduced, inflammation was greatly reduced as well.<br /><br />Overall, I feel like this is a great product for anyone who is looking for an exfoliator.<br />I feel like this product may even be essential for those who wear make up. I could not imagine skipping out on this product in my skin care and feel that it has improved my skin.</blockquote>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<h3>
Product differences</h3>
<span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br /></span>
<span style="line-height: 1.4;">Both BHA's are essentially the same. However, once my original BHA exfoliant was starting to run low and PC had a sale offered up... I went ahead and purchased the Extra Strength BHA from her clear line.</span><br />
<span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br /></span>
<span style="line-height: 1.4;">The Extra Strength Exfoliant is formulated with a higher PH, so that the product penetrates even deeper than her Regular BHA.</span><br />
<span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br /></span>
<span style="line-height: 1.4;">Quoted directly from Paula's Choice FAQ</span><br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="border: 0px; color: #505050; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 10px; line-height: 13.649999618530273px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<a class="showHide" data-toggleclass="ClearRegularExtra" href="http://www.paulaschoice.com/shop/skin-care-categories/aha-and-bha-exfoliants/_/Clear-Extra-Strength-Anti-Redness-Exfoliating-Solution-With-Two-Percent-Salicylic-Acid/#" style="border: 0px; color: #1f7e99; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant: inherit; font-weight: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; overflow: hidden; padding: 0px; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">What's the difference between the Regular and Extra Strength Clear exfoliants? Both contain 2% salicylic acid!</a>The difference between the Regular and Extra Strength exfoliants is in the delivery systems and their textures. Both anti-acne exfoliants contain 2% salicylic acid but the Regular Strength has a nearly weightless feel on your skin and a pH of around 3.9, making it gentler on the skin. The Extra Strength version's formula can penetrate deeper into the pore and has a pH of 3.5. It is designed for those with more stubborn or persistent breakouts. Both exfoliants are highly effective options as part of a routine for Clear skin; you may need to experiment with both to see which works best for your skin type. It is also fine to use both: Apply one in the morning and the other at night.</blockquote>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br /></span>
<span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br /></span>
<span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br /></span>
<span style="line-height: 1.4;"> I went ahead and did the purchase and have now been using the Extra Strength for about a month.</span><br />
<span style="line-height: 1.4;">The results are the same, but like is stated.. this is more so for those with more stubborn break outs and concerns.</span><br />
<span style="line-height: 1.4;">My skin felt more softer with the extra strength.. however, it does feel a lot stronger so I do alternate between the two. I prefer to use this product at night since you DO need to use an SPF with these products. ( And your best option is really to only use them at night. )</span><br />
<span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br /></span>
<span style="line-height: 1.4;">I prefer the packaging of her Regular BHA as opposed to her Extra Strength BHA. The packaging feels cheap.. and the requires you to soak a cotton ball as opposed to a cotton pad. It feels as if you waste more product. Especially since it is instructed to 'Soak a cotton ball and then to lightly apply the product.' </span><br />
<span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br /></span>
<span style="line-height: 1.4;">For the Regular Exfoliant, you drop about a dime size of the product onto a cotton pad. As opposed to the Extra Strength where you have to squirt out product.</span><br />
<span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br /></span>
<span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RiiP4Ub4UuI/U8V_YlkHSWI/AAAAAAAAAOw/N-wmyrltB9k/s1600/DSCN1514.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RiiP4Ub4UuI/U8V_YlkHSWI/AAAAAAAAAOw/N-wmyrltB9k/s1600/DSCN1514.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br /></span>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Both are great products, and the only con is the packaging. For extra sensitive skin I would probably use the gel or lotion, as I feel the liquid may be too strong.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I have sensitive skin and missed a spot after exfoliating. I had passed the cotton pad right under the sides of my nose, and did not apply SPF. So after awhile, I did experience redness and burning. So it is essential you cover every inch of your face with SPF, and then layer it again for safety. </div>

Today I wanted to go ahead and share with you guys my DIY recipes on my homemade toners.<br />
<br />
I love making my own toners because I know what is on my skin and I get the opportunity to focus on what benefits I want without risking irritation and sticking to natural ingredients.<br />
These are my favorite toners for my skin care, they are safe for use and completely organic!<br />
So let's get started shall we?<br />
<br />
<br />
<h2 style="text-align: center;">
<b>Green Tea Toner </b></h2>
<div>
<b><br /></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jOJr7-c6jVY/U5B58i0JAFI/AAAAAAAAAI4/LyGGlTGL12A/s1600/Te-verde.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jOJr7-c6jVY/U5B58i0JAFI/AAAAAAAAAI4/LyGGlTGL12A/s1600/Te-verde.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<b><br /></b></div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
This is one of the easiest toners to make out of all of them and one of the most refreshing ones. You can even put some in a bottle to refresh your face with throughout the day! It's perfect for those hot summer days ♥</blockquote>
<br />
<h4>
<u>Ingredients:</u></h4>
<br />
<ul>
<li>Green Tea</li>
<li>Aloe Vera Juice and/or Honey</li>
<li>Non-volatile Oil ( I use Argan Oil, and a Vitamin E Oil mixture which contains coconut oil, soybean oil, and vitamin e oil ).</li>
</ul>
<br />
<br />
<i>Instructions</i><br />
I fill up my container of choice with green tea, adding either a spoon of Aloe Juice or Honey to the mixture. I add about 5 drops of non-volatile oils to it. Shake it up well before use!<br />
You can keep this out but if you use Aloe Vera it is better to refrigerate it.<br />
I usually use a dark container for this recipe, and keep it in the refrigerator until it's cold. Because I use a dark container, I can keep it out on my vanity and it will continue to stay cool throughout the days! Great for de-puffing under your eyes as well ♥<br />
<br />
<br />

<h2 style="text-align: center;">
Aloe Vera Juice Toner</h2>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-X1tKHdlzbg8/U5B6RuJOi9I/AAAAAAAAAJA/OWAFvcVcIk4/s1600/aloe-vera-health-beauty-benefits2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-X1tKHdlzbg8/U5B6RuJOi9I/AAAAAAAAAJA/OWAFvcVcIk4/s1600/aloe-vera-health-beauty-benefits2.jpg" height="214" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
If you want to save some time you can always buy organic Aloe Vera Juice from any health store or farmers market. It may be better as it has a long life span compared to getting it off the plant because they add preservatives to it.<br />
I got mine off the plant since it was cheaper for me - so that's what I'll be discussing. Aloe Vera is also great for those with Acne because it does contain salicylic acid. Aloe Vera is a humectant and therefore you need to moisturize afterwards. You skin will feel taught - not tight using this and it's great for those pores!</blockquote>
<br />
<h4>
<u>Ingredients:</u></h4>
<br />
<ul>
<li>Aloe Vera</li>
<li>Water</li>
</ul>
<br />
<br />
<i>Instructions</i><br />
I took a leaf off my Aloe Vera Plant, went ahead and with a knife I sliced it opened.<br />
You scoop out the Aloe inside with a knife, not a spoon (says my mother) because if you scoop out everything using a spoon it will be acidic.<br />
After working on that for a couple of minutes, I threw the gooey sticky stuff into the blender and blended it until it became juicy.<br />
We let it sit out for a while and went ahead and put it into a container to refrigerate.<br />
A bit of water was added to completely the mixture ( you can also add some green tea ).<br />
<br />
I recommend refrigerating this and I would say without refrigeration it has a shelf life of about 4-5 days; 2 weeks with.<br />
Definitely don't make a lot like I did because it will smell bad!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<h2 style="text-align: center;">
Apple Cider Vinegar Toner</h2>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-d7TK6Uo0cu0/U5B6oEUko2I/AAAAAAAAAJI/qzyBt6yXEVk/s1600/images.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-d7TK6Uo0cu0/U5B6oEUko2I/AAAAAAAAAJI/qzyBt6yXEVk/s1600/images.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
I do not recommend this for sensitive skin types. It may still burn and irritate your skin, but I prefer this over witch hazel any day!<br />
ACV mimics the skins PH so it's great at balancing out your skins PH! </blockquote>
<h4>
<br /><div style="text-align: justify;">
<u>Ingredients:</u></div>
</h4>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<ul>
<li>Apple Cider Vinegar ( Must be raw, organic, unfiltered, with the mother etc )</li>
<li>Water or Green Tea</li>
</ul>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>Instructions</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
50/50 A.C.V and Green Tea or Water. I usually do 70/50 because my skin can be sensitive.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<span style="border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">So I decided to put together a list of common beauty myths.<br style="box-sizing: border-box;" />Bottom line: The truth is the truth!<br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><b>#1 Shaving will make my hair grow back thicker</b><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" />Your hair grows in follicles beneath the skin, and nothing you do to your leg hair on top of the skin can change its diameter or the number of follicles. Hair that hasn't been cut is wide at the base and is thinner toward the tip. Shaving cuts the hair off at the base where it is widest. When the hair starts to grow back, it seems coarser since that softer, thinner end has been removed. <br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><b>#2 XYZ product help make pores smaller</b><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" />Pore size is genetic; therefore your pores do not actually shrink. You can fill in your pores with certain foundation primers and use other products that help give off the allusion of shrunken pores. But, just like foundation is the illusion of perfect skin, so are pore shrinking products. <br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><b>#3 Tooth paste can help zap zits.</b><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" />While toothpaste can help dry out zits, the benefits are short-lived. Your skin will become more irritated, and in the end can cause it to appear worse. Stick to a regular treatment. <br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><b>#4 Cutting your hair will make it grow faster</b><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" />Although cutting your hair is good to make it appear healthy and to avoid split ends, in reality it will stay the same length if you continue to constantly get It cut. Keep it to a minimum and when you need to. <br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><b>#5 Eyeliner makes your eyes appear smaller.</b><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" />Properly applied eye liner will make your eyes appear larger. Eye liner applied on the upper lash line can instantly wake up your whole face. Liner on the lower lash line or water line (inner eye) can do the opposite, depending on the size of your eyes. A little trick to open up anyone’s eyes is to line that lower inner eye with a white or flesh-colored pencil. Your eyes will be bright and wide open.<br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><b>#6 Drinking water keeps your skin from drying out</b><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" />What keeps skin moist is oil, not water. Granted, drinking water does have it’s health benefits and is needed. But, your skin can still look dry even if you drink 8 glasses a day. <br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><b>#7 Vaseline can make your lashes grow</b><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" />Vaseline can only simply, condition your lashes. Vaseline does not promote hair growth. What makes people ignorantly believe their lashes are longer is through the fact that the application of Vaseline on the lashes makes it appear thicker and moisturized. Kind of like how mascara makes your lashes appear like they’ve grown longer yet they haven’t is the same way as Vaseline. It’s more a mere illusion of longer lashes that causes many to believe that they are growing. In fact, the viscous jelly could actually plug glands on the inner rims of your eyelids that produce tears, flush out debris and fend off infections.<br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><b>#8 Shampooing fades hair color</b><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" />False, at least 80% of hair color fading is caused by water, alone.<br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><b>#9 Make up causes acne</b><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" />There is no research indicating that makeup or skin-care products cause acne, and there is no consensus on which ingredients are problematic. Still, women do experience breakouts after using some skin-care products. Such breakouts can be the result of an irritant or an inflammatory response, a random skin reaction, or a result of problematic ingredients unique to a person's skin type. That means you have to experiment to see what might be causing your breakouts. There is no information from medical research or the cosmetic industry to help or point you in the right direction. And it is critical to know that terms such as "noncomedogenic" and "non-acnegenic" are meaningless. The cosmetics industry uses these terms to indicate that a product is less likely to cause breakouts, but there is no standard or regulation set to categorize this labeling. Any product can make this claim, even pure wax or vegetable shortening.<br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><b>#10 It's good when your products cool or tingle skin</b><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" />That’s your skin actually telling you that its irritated. <br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /><b>#11 Your skin will eventually adapt to beauty products and they won't work anymore</b><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" />Skin doesn't adapt to skin-care products any more than your body adapts to a healthy diet</span></div>

<span style="font-size: x-large;">Sulfur Ointment for Acne</span></h2>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I wanted to make a post just to kind of put this product in the spotlight.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Generally, when it comes down to treating acne. Usually Salicylic Acid, Benzoyl Peroxide also known as BP, and Tea Tree Oil take the limelight.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Rarely, will someone ever mention using Sulfur... unless you specifically search it up.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After developing cystic acne on my cheeks, I tried everything from Salicylic Acid to Tea Tree Oil based treatments. Then I went the all natural route doing all sorts of DIY's. They helped my complexion, and some swelling, but not my acne.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am grateful for what I had to suffer. Now I can look at products, and base on how well it works on ingredients and not on recommendations.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So I went with what my doctor once suggested years ago. Sulfur.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I bought this little tub of Sulfur Ointment at my Local Grocery store in the medicinal section where the ethnic/hispanic product shelf was at for $3.99.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Information on Sulfur for acne:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
• Has been used for over 50 years. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
• Used back in the ancient times in hot springs where people would bathe themselves in Sulfur to help treat skin aliments.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
• Sulfur has a keratolytic effect which is similar to salicylic acid which helps remove/exfoliate dead skin cells</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
• Believed to be great for mild to moderate acne, black heads, white heads, and acne scarring. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
• It is anti-bacterial</div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
A couple of weeks ago I purchased Lorac's I'm So Sensitive Soothing Face Primer. I had good expectations from Lorac so I expected this primer to work out in my favor. Lorac was having a clear out sale at Sephora, and this being the last primer on the shelf I expected so much more than what I got.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This primer feels like, a light weight moisturizer. It didn't feel like it could create a base for my foundation. I found that I had to shake the tube a bit before each use; leading me to question whether it had a longer shelf life than what I thought it could. </div>
<div>
I did enjoy the size of the tube. It was larger than what most face primers usually are which works well in my favor since I believe that for the price we pay some primers should bring a little more.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This primer labels itself as 'Fragrance free'. Which, infact it is not. It contains Anthemis Nobilis Flower Extract & Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract which are both fragrances. They are listed at the end of the ingredient list so they may not be enough for irritation, but it does make the product a little bit misleading.</div>
<div>
At the near top of the ingredient list, it does contain Cetyl Alcohol which is highly comedogenic and irritating. It also contains Ethylhexyl Palmitate as the second ingredient on it's list, which is also moderately/highly comedogenic and mildly irritating. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I did not pay to much attention to the ingredients, but unfortunately my skin did.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<i>I know that this photo may make you think that I exaggerated. I can assure you.... this was taken a couple of days ago as I am not one to take pictures of my break outs.</i></div>
<div>
<i> But now just take the one visible bump on my forehead and multiple it by 16. ( Yes I count my blemishes. ) They were all accumulating in that same general area where I concentrate the primer at. I literally believed I was developing hormonal acne. </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4Mbk-HAvzm8/U0SxBmBl6VI/AAAAAAAAAHQ/D0LD0VUW-vg/s1600/unnamed.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4Mbk-HAvzm8/U0SxBmBl6VI/AAAAAAAAAHQ/D0LD0VUW-vg/s1600/unnamed.jpg" height="320" width="239" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It took me awhile to register what was going on. My skin routine was the same, I was using my Luna, I was using a face primer which acts as barrier... what could possibly be breaking me out across my forehead? ( That's where I generally apply the primer the most as that's the driest part of my face. )</div>
<div>
Until it finally did click that the primer had something to do with it, I ran straight to Beautypedia. It was given a good rating. So, next I went to my trusty cosdna cheat sheet site. The truth came forward.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I eliminated my face primer, and now my break out is gone. I guess this didn't work out so well for me in the end, and will probably go right back to my BareMinerals face primer and maybe one day indulge in Hour glass, Guerlain, or Laura Mercier.</div>

<span style="font-size: x-large;">DIY IT!</span></h2>
<h3>
MAC FIX+</h3>
<br />
Don't get me wrong, MAC Cosmetics is an amazing make up company who sells amazing products. But let me cut to the chase..<br />
I would rather save some $$$ to buy something else other than spray!<br />
<br />
MAC's Fix + is just glycerin and water. Glycerin is a humectant and can be found relatively cheap at any drugstore. As a skin care freak, I opted for the closet thing possible that wouldn't be harmful to my skin.<br />
Aloe Vera!! ( And it's cheaper, it's in my garden ♥ )<br />
<br />
<br />
If you use MAC's Fix+ to simply dilute your makeup, you wouldn't even need to use it. Water can do a good job at diluting make up.<br />
Fix + is used for a lot of different things, to make eye shadow colors more vibrant, to apply glitter, some even use it as a refresher spray.<br />
<br />
Here is a good example of the difference between using Fix+ and not using it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i.gyazo.com/d3f54d8d36788715d8cedd686b4d86b9.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i.gyazo.com/d3f54d8d36788715d8cedd686b4d86b9.png" height="238" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Ingredients used:<br />
Water<br />
Aloe Vera<br />
Vitamin E Oil<br />
Tea Tree Oil<br />
Lavender Oil ( Note: Lavender Oil is a skin irritant. I do not recommend it for acne prone skin, skin prone to redness, sensitive or thinned out skin. Definitely use SPF as well.)<br />
<br />
<br />
I used cheap <a href="http://www.target.com/p/up-up-travel-bottles-with-assorted-tops-3-0-oz/-/A-11008842" target="_blank">bottles</a> that I purchased at Target for 0.97 Cents.<br />
I filled up most of it with water, and to my own eye I added each ingredient. The more Aloe Vera or Glycerin you add, the more sticky it can become. Shake well before each use.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

My Routine </div>
</h3>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My hair is very curly, and when it dries it's about the length of a bob. These products have been part of my hair care regime for awhile. The above pictured products I have been using since I was 12-13 years old. I did stop using hair care products in general for about 2 years, and now that I have started incorporating products into my hair again I have to say that these are still at the top of my list. </div>
<div>
They do carry an expensive price tag, but they are quality products.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Hair Washing:</b></div>
<div>
Because my hair is very curly, the only way for me to style it is through washing it. I don't use shampoo, only conditioner.</div>
<div>
I usually apply a generous amount of my conditioner in my hair. I do not wash it all out.. I detangle my hair using a paddle brush. </div>
<div>
I detangle my hair before washing as well. Because I do not rinse out all of my conditioner my hair is rarely tangled. </div>
<div>
I like using Tresmme because of the slip it has for detangling. It also leaves my hair very soft.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>After washing:</b> The first product I usually apply is my oil serum. I then follow with either one of the two hair creams listed above. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Hair Masks:</b> <br />I use the strengthening mask about every 2 days( As stated in the instructions. ) every night. I do a DIY Hair mask about every 3-5 days and leave it on for about an hour with a shower cap on, so that they heat helps penetrate the product deeper. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Heat Styling:</b><br />I always use a heat protectant serum for my hair. I currently use the one listed above ( My stylist also uses it. ) which leaves my hair very soft and silky. I do flat iron my hair at the highest temperature, and I am saving up for a hair bonnet.</div>

<h2 style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: x-large;">Dry Skin</span></h2>
<br />
Dry skin can be such a hassle at times, but it does take understanding to know how to care for it.<br />
There are so many products out there offering to hydrate your skin, and most of them will only work as long as your skin is hydrated, already.<br />
<br />
As a skin care/DIY junkie, I've learned some cool tips and tricks over time on how to take care of dry skin.<br />
<br />
<h3>
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">
Cleanser</span></h3>
This can be so tricky because a majority of the people have oily skin, and usually those with oily skin are a bit more problematic. ( Clogged pores, blackheads, etc. )<br />
So everywhere you look, it's as if out of 10 products only 2 will pertain to dry skin.<br />
<br />
<h4>
Key words you want to look for</h4>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
Moisturizing, Hydrating, Gentle, Non-Drying, Non-Irritating, Hyaluronic Acid ( HA Attracts needed moisture to your skin, and is 1,000 times it's weight in water. It is found naturally occurring in your skin cells - but as you age the skins ability to produce HA is decreased. ) Ceramides ( Help repair skins barrier ), Alcohol Free, Emollients ( Help soften dry skin ), Non-Foaming, Soap Free, Mild, Fragrance Free, Anti-Bacterial.</blockquote>
<br />
<h3>
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">Moisturizers</span></h3>
<div>
Moisturizers can be pretty tricky to figure out. Most are formulated for oilier skin types. ( if you haven't caught on, it's mostly oily skin that dominates the market. )</div>
<div>
It is important to moisturize, more than the usual twice a day.</div>
<div>
For dry skin, it is recommended to moisturize at least 4 times a day. You want to pick a strong moisturizer, not the general pretty bottle.</div>
<div>
Avoid gels, as they are intended for oily skin. Oils are your best friend and will help seal and moisture ( and can help even out your skin tone. )</div>
<div>
Shoot for creams, not lotions. Creams tend to absorb into the skin more than a regular lotion does. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: large;">Exfoliation</span></h3>
<div>
Dry skin does flake up and exfoliation can help. There is no need to use an abrasive, harmful exfoliant like Apricot Scrubs ( Store brand and St. Ives ). Exfoliation can be both chemical and physical, and both help remove dead skin cells.</div>
<div>
Exfoliation is very important because your skin is constantly producing new skin cells. These skin cells are produced at a lower layer and then sent to the uppermost layer. Exfoliation helps remove those dead skin cells, giving your skin a more youthful, healthy look.</div>
<div>
It is essential that you are gentle with exfoliation. If you over exfoliate you are putting your skin at a great risk of bacterial infections.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
By Over exfoliating, you can remove a protective layer of your skin. This layer is essential for protecting your skin from bacteria. This can cause cysts. premature wrinkles, discoloration, etc. So it is essential to know how to pick out a good exfoliant.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Things to look out for:</b></div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
Apricot scrubs, or any exfoliant that uses shells. An exfoliators beads should be rounded and smooth - not pointed.<br />If you use anything with BHA, AHA, Glycolic Acid or even Salicylic acid you are already exfoliating. These are all chemical exfoliants.<br />T-Sonic devices. The Clarisonic and the Foreo Luna already provide exfoliation, just use a regular cleanser along with them.<br />Manual face brushes.. The Neutrogena Wave, a simple cheap brush, Olay's Brush, etc also provide exfoliation. They do not yield the same results as the above devices, but you still need to be very gentle with them.<br />Sugar as an exfoliant. It can be used, yet it needs to be very refined and smooth. I always used to do a honey and sugar scrub. Be very gentle with it.<br />Jojoba Beads are a very gentle exfoliator. You can either buy them at any health store ( Whole foods ) or in bulk online. You can mix these with any cleanser of your choice or honey. Neutrogena has a Naturals line which includes a Jojoba Bead exfoliator.<br />Oatmeal is also an amazing exfoliant and hydrator. <span style="font-size: large;">How I take care of my Dry Skin</span></h2>
<div>
As a make up remover I use <a href="https://store.carringtonfarms.com/organic-extra-virgin-coconut-oil-12-oz-tub-54-oz-bottle/" target="_blank">Cold Pressed Organic Coconut Oil </a></div>
<div>
Cleanser: I use <a href="http://www.cerave.com/our-products/cleansers/hydrating-cleanser" target="_blank">CeraVe's hydrating cleanser.</a> Another great alternative would be <a href="http://www.paulaschoice.com/shop/skin-care-categories/cleansers/_/Skin-Recovery-Softening-Cream-Cleanser" target="_blank">Paula's Choice Skin Recovery Cleanser.</a> </div>
<div>
Moisturizer: I love my <a href="http://www.cerave.com/our-products/moisturizers/moisturizing-cream" target="_blank">CeraVe Moisturizing Cream. </a> It applies mattee like, and quickly absorbs into my skin. I apply it generously about 3-4 times a day. </div>
<div>
To seal in my moisturizer I use <a href="http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/p/life-flo-health-care-pure-rosehip-seed-oil-1-fl-oz-oil/ly-1708" target="_blank">Rosehip Oil</a>. </div>

Good Bye Red!</h2>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Redness is something common when it comes to skin care. Although more common with those who have a cool undertone, it's just as common for those with a warm undertone.<br />
Use of products with irritants in it ( that cool, tingly feeling is actually very bad for your skin ), as well as - alcohol ( Present in most toners ) and other skin care products, or just touching the face can make it turn a light shade of red.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Well - just as easy as it is to get a red face, it's also as easy to calm it. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is friendly for those with rosacea, as well. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Oatmeal for redness</span></h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-47b1zi0RDmQ/UuMQHe_DMhI/AAAAAAAAAEc/fgVyqG6o3WY/s1600/oats.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-47b1zi0RDmQ/UuMQHe_DMhI/AAAAAAAAAEc/fgVyqG6o3WY/s1600/oats.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
Why is oatmeal so good for the skin? Oatmeal helps soothe the skin as well as moisturize it. Oatmeal is also known for it's ability to pull excess oil out from the skin. Here are some interesting facts in regards to oatmeal following a google search. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<b>Polysaccharides</b><br />
Oatmeal contains polysaccharides, a type of complex carbohydrate. When polysaccharides mix with water, a gel forms. This gel softens and nourishes the skin. It also protects skin from drying out even after you’ve washed the oatmeal away.<br />
<b>Adding Moisture</b><br />
Oatmeal contains healthy fats. When they come into contact with your skin, these fats help to add moisture to soften and repair your skin.<br />
<b>Natural Barrier</b><br />
Your skin is your body’s first line of defense against pollutants. Oatmeal helps to strengthen your skin’s defenses so it can do a better job.<br />
<b>Gentle Cleansing</b><br />
The saponins in oats help to remove dirt from your pores. This effect, combined with oatmeal’s moisture-adding properties, gives your skin that soft glow after an oatmeal cleanse.<br />
<b>Inside Out</b><br />
Oatmeal isn’t just good for your skin as a topical treatment. It also helps promote healthy skin as part of your diet. The fiber in oatmeal helps to control the release of insulin and the uptake of glucose, and good insulin regulation helps keep your skin taut and healthy.</blockquote>

<h4>
For a mask/exfoliant ( Can be used daily ) <span style="font-size: x-small;">* This is messy </span></h4>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<ol>
<li>Grab a handful of oatmeal, it can be any kind. It can be instant oats or whatever you have readily available.</li>
<li>Throw some in the blender and grind it. Why should you do this? I found that using oatmeal without grinding it is a bit abrasive. The reason being is that I exfoliate using oatmeal, which I will explain in further steps how it's done.</li>
<li>In a container or bowl, using about a tbsp or more ( to the eye ) of raw organic honey ( it can be regular but you will reap more benefits with organic honey ) mix the two together.</li>
<li>Apply the paste to your face.</li>
<li>After 15-20 minutes or once the oatmeal hardens, in a GENTLE circular motion, massage your skin as this will make the oatmeal fall off AND exfoliate. If you do not wish to exfoliate simple run water on your face ( in the shower of course. )</li>
</ol>

<li>Place some in your hand, closing your fist ( not too tightly ) as to moisten the grinded oats. </li>
<li>In gentle circular motions, massage your skin gently using the oats. ( A good idea is to do this as soon as you shower. I like to leave it on and when I am done showering I will then wash it off so that it's kind of like a mini mask. )</li>
<li>In a gentle circular motion, remove the oatmeal. Or simply let the running water remove it from your face as to not exfoliate. </li>

<div style="text-align: justify;">

Aloe Vera</h2>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Po4q4-A-SVw/UuMUyeGp6xI/AAAAAAAAAEo/h7KxvLHnCUo/s1600/Aloe-Vera.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Po4q4-A-SVw/UuMUyeGp6xI/AAAAAAAAAEo/h7KxvLHnCUo/s1600/Aloe-Vera.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Aloe Vera is known for soothing irritated skin and healing wounds. It's something my mom would always apply on my face right after we came from the beach, especially since I love tanning in the summer. She would always go outside in to our garden, and break open the leaf and apply some of the gel the leaf contains on to her burns. Aloe Vera can help treat all kinds of skin disasters, from flaked and dried up skin to hair & scalp problems and even eczema. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here are some interesting facts I found about Aloe Vera</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<b>1. It treats sunburn.</b> </blockquote>
</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
Aloe Vera helps with sunburn through its powerful healing activity at the epithelial level of the skin, a layer of cells that cover the body. It acts as a protective layer on the skin and helps replenish its moisture. Because of its nutritional qualities and antioxidant properties, the skin heals quicker. </blockquote>
</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<b>2. It acts as a moisturizer.</b> </blockquote>
</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
Aloe moisturizes the skin without giving it a greasy feel, so it`s perfect for anyone with an oily skin complexion. For women who use mineral-based make-up, aloe vera acts as a moisturizer and is great for the face prior to the application to prevents skin drying. For men: Aloe vera gel can be used as an aftershave treatment as its healing properties can treat small cuts caused by shaving. </blockquote>
</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<b>3. It treats acne.</b> </blockquote>
</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
Aloe vera gel contains two hormones: Auxin and Gibberellins. These two hormones provide wound healing and anti-inflammatory properties that reduce skin inflammation. Giberellin in aloe vera acts as a growth hormone stimulating the growth of new cells. It allows the skin to heal quickly and naturally with minimal scarring.<br />
Aloe is soothing and can reduce skin inflammations, blistering and itchiness, while helping the skin to heal more rapidly. Additionally, in Ayurvedic medicine, Aloe is used to effectively heal chronic skin problems, such as psoriasis, acne and eczema. </blockquote>
</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<b>4. It fights aging.</b> </blockquote>
</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
As we age, everyone begins to worry about the appearance of fine lines and the loss of elasticity in their skin. Aloe leaves contain a plethora of antioxidants including, beta carotene, vitamin C and E that can help improve the skin's natural firmness and keep the skin hydrated.<br />
5. It lessens the visibility of stretch marks.<br />
The skin is like one big piece of elastic that’ll expand and contract as needed to accommodate growth. But if the skin stretches too far, too fast (due to pregnancy, rapid weight gain or loss) the elasticity of the skin can be damaged. That’s what leaves those unsightly stretch marks. These marks appear due to minor tears in the layers of the skin caused by sudden and excessive stretching. Aloe vera gel can help hide these stretch marks by healing these wounds. </blockquote>
</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<b>6. It's nutrient rich for good health.</b> </blockquote>
</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
This solid material contains over 75 different nutrients including vitamins, minerals, enzymes, sugars, anthraquinones or phenolic compounds, lignin, saponins, sterols, amino acids and salicylic acid. </blockquote>
</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<b>7. It soothes in periodontal disease.</b> </blockquote>
</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
According to a study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology, it's extremely helpful in the treatment of gum diseases like gingivitis, periodontitis. It reduces bleeding, inflammation and swelling of the gums. It is a powerful antiseptic in pockets where normal cleaning is difficult, and its antifungal properties help greatly in the problem of denture stomatitis, apthous ulcers, cracked and split corners of the mouth. </blockquote>
</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<b>8. It aids in digestion.</b> </blockquote>
</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
The internal benefits of aloe vera are supposed to be just as amazing. The plant is said to improve the digestion and to relieve ulcers. Some people consider it a laxative, while others attribute that effect to its digestive qualities (which normalize the system and induce regularity). The juice is also prescribed for arthritis and rheumatism. To test any of these claims, steep the cut foliage in water or chew pieces of the fresh leaf.</blockquote>
</blockquote>

<h3>
How to use Aloe Vera: </h3>
<div>
It's better off to either get the leaf from a supermarket or have one readily available from being grown. The reason being is that preserved Aloe Vera gel may not be as effective and it's performance is obstructed by the chemicals in it to preserve it and some as well contain irritants, like fragrance for instance. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<ol>
<li>You can break off the leaf, and then slice it open. Inside will be the clear substance (it does not taste pleasant) in which you can gently massage on your skin.</li>
<li>Another fun idea might be to use aloe vera in conjunction with oatmeal! Instead of doing the above mask with honey, try aloe vera.</li>
<li>You can apply Aloe Vera after your moisturizer, but aloe vera is a humectant meaning it attracts moisture from the air. It will not work as well if you are using this on a cold, winter day. </li>
</ol>
<div>
You can also purchase Aloe Vera Juice ( or make it if you know how to ) to use as a toner for your skin as well. </div>

<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Hi loves! I'm sure all of you Beautylisher's have seen my piccies of my hair going from medium/short to pretty long.</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I'm constantly asked about it, and I do have a post on what treatment I use most but here I'm going to go into more detail about making your hair strong, beautiful and healthy.</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">First off, understand you cannot change the speed of your hair growth. Obviously, by using heat styling all the time and chemicals won't make it grow at all, but let's put it this way. ( Hypothetically to give an example ) You can run maximum 40 mph, but if you don't take care of your body, run every so often, you will obviously not be able to run as fast. The maximum speed that you run is 40 mph, so obviously you can't go any faster but - you can go slower by not maintaining your health. </span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This is how your hair works. You can't make it grow any faster than what your body can make it grow, but by mistreating it - it will fall off, get dry, brittle, and not grow as well.</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Secondly, stronger hair means less breakage, which means you can see that your hair is growing. That is not the same thing as 'omg my hair is growing faster'. I'm pretty sure if you mistreated it and it fell off and you kept mistreating it - that it won't grow 'omg so fast'.</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Thirdly, your hair length is determined by genetics. Have you seen how some ladies have longer lashes? Same rule applies to your hair. So don't get stressed out if it doesn't grow to the floor. </span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">And may I also add that short, beautiful, healthy hair is way more appealing than long, damaged hair. </span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Since you can't make your hair grow faster, don't fall into any bogus special pills that may sicken you that promise to make your hair grow faster.</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">To begin with, you want to do is stimulate hair growth and encourage the strength and health of your hair. </span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">To help you out, here are some bogus answers that many fall victim to and why they should be avoided.</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="color: #cc0000; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Mane n' tail shampoo/conditioner is not PH balanced for human hair or scalp, over time it begins to dry out your hair and make it brittle (scientifically, and speaking from personal experience with this one.)<br />The reason people claim Mane n' tail makes your hair grow is because of the heavy amount of wax in it. The wax present in Mane N' tail simply weighs down your hair and this wax can actually cause flakes. The wax in Mane n' tail is the reason for dullness, and dryness that it can cause. The wax builds up on your hair and overtime causes that side effect. In other words, Mane n Tail is as effective as lard. </span></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="color: #cc0000; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />Do NOT Take Biotin WITHOUT CONSULTING A DOCTOR!!!! I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!<br /> Biotin is initially meant for those who have a biotin deficiency or a related illness. Taking biotin is not needed as you get enough from your own intake of food.<br />Biotin can also yield nasty side effects. There are too many horror stories of those who failed to yield the warning. Some symptoms include high fever, vomiting throughout the day, mild to severe acne.. some as odd as getting acne on your legs.<br /> Biotin is also NOT approved by the FDA. There are foods that contain Biotin already (Peanut butter is a good example.) It is better to look up foods rich in Biotin. And believe it or not, you can make your own Biotin rich smoothie. (A yummy smoothie just for hair growth and no side effects vs a pill not approved by our own sketchy government is enough say for me at least.)<br /><i><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVlMH6gUWt4" target="_blank">A recipe for a Biotin rich smoothie - courtesy of Luxy Hair</a></i> </span></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="color: #cc0000; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />The 'inversion' method.<br />Aka weighing down your hair with oils, and then putting yourself in harms way by hanging upside down.<br />No, your hair will not grow that fast in 5 days. If it sounds too good it probably is. The reason that it looks like it has grown is because oils are basically weighing down your hair. The whole idea of hanging upside down isn't a good idea either. And what happens by hanging upside down is just blood flow & circulation to the head - which you can achieve by massaging your scalp and exercising. A girl argued with me that ' It's good do bend over for 5 minutes upside because doctors do it for back pain'.<br />Let me clarify this; my dad has about 6-7 herniated disks. What a doctor makes you do is stand up completely straight on some kind of a thick mat. You are strapped down accordingly, and he slowly turns you upside down for a period of time. You are up straight the entire time, not bent over or in some awkward position. I'm pretty sure if you could just bend over to relieve the back pain, a doctor wouldn't put my dad on a $350.00 machine to turn him straight upside down.</span></blockquote>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Following a healthy diet is essential for hair growth. Take proteins into consideration. Your hair is made up of Keratin which is a protein. </span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Your body needs to produce more amino acids to increase hair growth. Proteins can come from eggs, nuts, beans, fish, etc.</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Check with your doctor to make sure you don't have any deficiencies. Iron and zinc play a big component in hair growth as well as nail growth. Cereal, breads, pastas, have a healthy level of iron and zinc. </span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Make sure you take enough vitamin C as well ( Lack of such vitamin can cause dry, dull, and weakened hair... Citrus fruits, strawberries, guava, broccoli, kale, peppers, etc.have a good amount of Vitamin C. )</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Consume healthy fats such as unsaturated fats and fatty acids such as omega-3's. Fats are indispensable to hair growth.</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Exercising, scalp massages, and avoiding stress. Exercising and massaging your scalp allows blood to flow to your head, and massaging your hair stimulates new hair growth (for at least 5 minutes when you wash your hair or apply a product, massage your scalp.)</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Stress causes hair to fall out so avoid stress if you can. </span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Hair masks and treatments are a must. Stick to treatments involving Coconut oil. Coconut Oil stimulates hair growth because it penetrates deep into your hair follicles ( and is considered protein. )</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Oils work great for hair, for maximum benefits heat them up indirectly. ( Heat up a cup of water in your microwave for two minutes, and in a separate enclosed container with your hair masks, place it in the cup of water to heat it indirectly. )</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Avoid heat if you can.</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">You don't need to get a haircut every x number of months, that just causes it to stay at the same length. </span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I once had a hair stylist tell me 'You need to have it cut every 3 weeks'. That's not even a full cycle, and just sounds like a scheme to get me to spend money. ( A simple hair cut because my hair is 'curly and very long' is about $60.00 )</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Get a cut if you really need to ( dead ends, split ends, etc ), cutting hair won't just randomly make it grow twice as fast. </span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">You can wash your hair everyday, it's shampooing you want to stray from because it's very stripping. Shampoo your scalp ONLY.</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Don't rinse out all of your conditioner. This helps immensely and when you wash your hair again it will be de-tangled. Stick to moisturizing your hair 100%.</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Try to brush your hair outside of the shower with a wide tooth comb. There's also a wet brush meant for wet hair. I find my regular brush to work just as well, but my hair does not get knotted at all so it won't make a difference if I were to use one. Your best bet are your fingers and some conditioner. </span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">And remember... overall health does contribute to your hair! </span><br />

<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">My Month 1 Update</span></h2>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Hi loves!</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">So I want to say it's been about a month since I purchased my Foreo Luna Mini!</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">And since most reviews are based off of 3 days results, I wanted to continue with updates!</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<b><span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">One common question I've been asked is 'And has your skin purged yet?'</span></b><br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Yes, my skin has purged. All the not-very-noticeable bumps, under the skin bumps, basically came to a head.</span><span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">My forehead was covered in under the skin bumps, (it's been this way since I was little, but they're not very noticeable at all, so they never bothered me.) and they all came to a clear. 'Baby acne' as some like to call it. These are not milia bumps, nor do they resemble milia. </span></blockquote>
<b><span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Have I experienced any new breakouts?</span></b><br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Nope, other than traditional purging my skin has not have any break outs. Normally my skin breaks out around my period, and to be honest I expected it to, and was very surprised that it didn't. As of now I've gone a full month without any new pimples, blemishes, or break outs.</span></blockquote>
<b><span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Does it help with scarring?</span></b><br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Yes! I'm pretty sure it does help with scarring. Like I said in my previous posts, I have this weird unknown if acne or reaction on my cheeks. (One is literally a perfect diagonal line going up.) And they are now almost non-existent. I actually HAVEN'T been using any serums to help or any other product other than washing my face. </span><span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I did ,however, two days ago started incorporating masks and sulfur again. And they have both sped up the process of purging and cell turnover and scarring. </span></blockquote>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<i><span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I wanted to share this photo. I used a traditional, drug store makeup remover and then went ahead and applied my cleanser and deep cleansed with my Luna Mini... Look at all the dirt that it missed! Gross!</span></i><br />

<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I'm very happy to say that my skin has continued to improve. I very much do enjoy the thought of never having to worry about breaking out again, plus it lets me slack on my skin care and gives me extra $$$$ to spend on make up and other silly things!</span></div>

<span style="color: #999999; font-size: x-large;">How I keep my nails strong and free of breakage. </span></h2>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Almost every lady out there loves the thought of having long, strong, beautiful nails. For me, personally, good genetics not only gave me long beautiful slim fingers, but long nails.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I always read about how the women in my dad's country (Dominican Republic) would dice garlic into tiny pieces, and let it sit in a nail polish bottle for about 7-10 days.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">When a friend of mine went to Columbia, she came back with a plethora of the same strengthening nail polishes, going on about how she loves to use it and how the over priced crap they sell here in the states never works or compares. (I believe her, I had an OPI one and it sucked.)</span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I didn't pay too much attention, until recently a best friend of mine who loves to cook had been making lots of dishes using garlic. She always comes to me about beauty advice, so it wasn't any surprise when she asked me if Garlic helped with your nails.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">She generally has short, near the base bitten finger nails. I've known her since we were 11 years old, maybe younger so I know she's never had long nails.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Her nails in particular were very long, not as long as mine as I have long fingers to begin with ( so even if I cut my nails they still look long. ) and were very strong and healthy.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<h4>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Facts about Garlic:</span></h4>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Natural Anti-Oxidant, and helps aide in cleaning. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Helps keratin production in your skin and nails.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CepbgrdLisQ/UsnC4-ADDRI/AAAAAAAAACw/KqADLf-j_hc/s1600/ID-100124480.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CepbgrdLisQ/UsnC4-ADDRI/AAAAAAAAACw/KqADLf-j_hc/s320/ID-100124480.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<h4>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">My remedy bible mom said of course garlic helps, she used to do it all the time. </span><span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This is the instructions my mom gave me:</span></h4>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<br />
<ol>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #666666;">Get any clear nail polish, it can be any cheap clear top coat, or you can get a strengthening type. As long as it's one you are willing to use. I went with the strengthening type since I already have it at hand.</span> </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #666666;"> Dice up the garlic into really small bits, you want it to be able to fit into the nail polish bottle. I find that it helps to push it in with the nail polish brush</span> </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #666666;"> Close it tight, let it sit for 7-10 days. </span> </span></li>
<li><span style="background-color: white; color: #666666;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> Everyday, apply a coat of nail polish. You can start off with a double coat</span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> <span style="background-color: white; color: #666666;"> After a week, remove the nail polish and start all over. You can also use it as a </span></span><span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">base coat underneath your nails if you decide to paint them.</span></li>
</ol>
</blockquote>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Another way to incorporate Garlic in your nails is to rub it in. </span><br />
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<h4>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">My personal take on this:</span></h4>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">While gaining the benefits of garlic, I noticed that by applying a coat everyday acts as a protective barrier between your nails and the natural environment. Think of it as a protective bubble for the nails. If you literally peel it off after a week, you'll see it literally comes off as a whole which is cool, but I don't recommend you peel off polish.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">My nails didn't break because of it, and they were allowed to grow. As a matter of fact after doing it for a week, I decided to clip my nails off and start fresh. I didn't realize how much pressure I had to apply to my nails to clip them off, I was rather surprised. </span></div>

<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The Skin care hype surrounds the Clarisonic, many users referring to it as a 'Life changing device.' But now, that might change with Foreo's Luna Device. </span></h3>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.myimagejourney.com/cms/uploads/images/Picture%20004.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.myimagejourney.com/cms/uploads/images/Picture%20004.jpg" height="190" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The Clarisonic generally costs a hefty price tag and offers different brush heads to accompany your skin type. It promises to give you clear skin using Sonic Pulses that basically blast away dirt. The Sonic technology behind the Clarisonic basically gives a deeper clean that cannot be achieved by using our hands and other manual face brushes sold at relatively cheaper prices. </span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Many users report a purging period, other's report that their skin get's worse and never heals, and a trip to the dermatologist office winds up with the doctor telling the user to discontinue the use of clarisonic as it's brush heads are abrasive and can cause broken capillaries and further more damage your skin. The Clarisonic's brush heads harbour Dirt, mold, and bacteria, so it's not the most hygienic option. After a certain time period of about 3 months + you have to invest in a brand new brush head for the Clarisonic. </span><br />
<br />
<br />
<h3>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This is where the new Foreo Luna comes in.... ( Dun dun da daaaaaaa! )</span></h3>

<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The Foreo Luna is, as quoted on their website... </span><br />

<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">As Quoted on AskDerm</span><br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><i>FOREO launched in 2013 with the world's first T-SONIC™ technology that sends up to 8,000 pulsations per minute deep beneath your skins surface providing a deep clean and stimulates blood flow revealing a healthy glow. <span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 25px;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 25px;">In a nutshell...</span></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://gyazo.com/051b925b239c0b3d91534bef691e7af8.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://gyazo.com/051b925b239c0b3d91534bef691e7af8.png" height="168" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 25px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 25px;">Although more expensive than the Clarisonic, in the long run it is cheaper as you <b>don't</b> have to replace brush heads. <i>( This is AMAZING for the environment!) </i>Simply wash it off with some soap and water, and call it a day. The Luna Mini has a deep cleansing side on the back ( If it was the Clarisonic you would have to buy another brush head entirely..)</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 25px;">No nasty build up of bacteria, mold, and dirt. A++ in my book.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 25px;">Nowhere near as abrasive as the Clarisonic. And great for sensitive skin types that can't even use the Clarisonic no matter the brush head type. It uses Transdermal Sonic Pulses to gently clean away dirt and help with fine lines and other anti-aging needs, whereas the clarisonic does not.</span></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://gyazo.com/314498fd9a73096fe05985a9597a47a6.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://gyazo.com/314498fd9a73096fe05985a9597a47a6.png" height="205" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 25px;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 25px;">Every fifteen seconds the device stops to tell you to move onto a new area.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 25px;">Foreo took the technology of the Clarisonic and invented it in a whole new way to make it better. To me the Clarisonic is a Toyota, and the Luna is it's luxury brand, a Lexus. </span></span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 25px;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 25px;">Overall, before purchasing the Luna I read through 30 pages of reviews. Although there were some differences between both devices, I expected both to yield similar results. </span></span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 25px;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 25px;">My thoughts....</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 25px;">I was very surprised to see that life-long Clarisonic users actually claiming that their skin IMPROVED with the use of the Luna.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 25px;">I figured that both would yield the same results, on a normal skin type person without complications in a perfect world, but I did not expect to read that it could continue to improve. That, to me, ladies and gents, was rather appalling. And many Clarisonic users prefer the Luna over the Clarisonic. If you don't believe me, go ahead and read reviews for yourself. </span></span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 25px;">The Luna has over 121 pages of reviews and all 4-5 stars. Iv'e only read about 3 reports of purging in general. There are various YouTube reviews, from Wayne Goss recommending it to regular users. </span></span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 25px;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 25px;">I received my Luna today, and tried it out. I was rather skeptical about it ( I am skeptical about almost any product as my skin is a bit difficult when it comes to treating it) and I was surprised to see that my first try did make a difference. And by difference I don't mean pimples, milia, and this weird allergic reaction I've had for almost a year now suddenly disappearing with a first try ( Although I hope with useage it will.) I mean my skin was soft, my lymph nodes felt like they were drained, and my skin literally felt weightless. Yes, weightless. My face felt clean without being stripped. The device is absolutely adorable, more adorable in person. I kind of went 'Awwww' as soon as I saw it. </span></span><br />

<h4>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="color: red; line-height: 25px;">UPDATE!!!!</span></span></h4>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 25px;">It's been exactly 3 days since I've received and used my Luna. Those who have seen me personally know that on the very sides of face there is a rather weird looking reaction, to say the very least. It looks like a mixture of cystic acne, not as emphasized, and Keratosis Pilaris. It was so bad my father would always tease me and ask if I drew on top of my pimples. Coincidentally, I noticed more would appear when my dog would lick my face ( Well.. at least I have a matching reaction on the both sides of my face). Through time and treatments it has gone down noticeably but rather surprisingly, as soon as I started using this device. I did see a little improvement with it. Three days later and it appears almost next to gone. It was refreshing when my friend came by to visit me and right away asked what I had been doing to clear it up so beautifully. She had only seen me a week ago.... </span></span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 25px;">Granted, The placement of this weird allergic reaction on my face actually hides it from photos, unless I take it from a side angle. However, thanks to shitty cameras it's not very noticeable. So my skin, I can say happily, has improved quite impressively using this little device, as that awkward reaction is now not only flesh colored, but just appears as a couple of tiny pimples. </span></span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 25px;">And no, to clear it up... I was not part of a bzzagent campaign, I was not given a discount to purchase this device, and I was definitely not asked to review it ( It would be nice if I was given one). As a matter of fact, I was reading reviews about the Clarisonic, deciding to buy it when someone mentioned the Luna.. so I decided to look it up.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Microsoft YaHei, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 25px;">I just feel like with a new product like this, more should be written about it, especially since Clarisonic is what's in the spotlight at this moment. </span></span><br />

Castor is your carrier oil. You can add almond oil, avocado, avocado fruit, banana fruit, coconut oil, etc. I usually do it with Castor, Coconut Oil, Olive and a ripe avocado.</span></span></li>
<li><b style="color: #0f2326; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;"> How to:</b><span style="background-color: white; color: #0f2326; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;"> Tbsp of Castor Oil and Coconut oil. Mix together. </span></li>
<li><b style="color: #0f2326; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;">What it does:</b><span style="background-color: white; color: #0f2326; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;"> Strengthens your hair so you see less breakage. There is no way to speed up hair growth unless you change genetics. </span></li>
<li><b style="color: #0f2326; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;">What I've benefitted:</b><span style="background-color: white; color: #0f2326; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;"> Stronger hair, minimal breakage, a dramatic amount of less frizz, softer hair and more controllable.</span></li>
<li><b style="color: #0f2326; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;"> Time I've spent doing this:</b><span style="background-color: white; color: #0f2326; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;"> Approximately 2 months now. I've been doing it every 3-5 days. Make sure you massage your scalp for 5-10 minutes. I like to put a bag on over as well. </span></li>
